Drinking water is very important in order to maintain a state of good health. Water has many
functions that are UNIQUE to it. There is NO substitute for water when it comes to MAINTAINING our body temperature stable.
Water is the environment in which MOST of the chemical reactions in our body take place. Water helps in waste elimination
(urine and sweat) which are by-products of our metabolism.
Even a superficial look at the above
statements easily lead to the conclusion that WATER is intricately linked to METABOLISM, the key to our weight management.
Let us revisit those three statements one by one.
1) Water is important for the MAINTENANCE of
our body temperature. Our body temperature is a reflection of our METABOLISM. When we burn our food FAST, we produce a lot
of heat and our body heats up. If we metabolize slowly, we produce less heat. The same way that if a car heats up too much,
the engine loses most of its effectiveness, our body is not going to work as an “well oiled machine” without the
proper amount of water.
2) Water is the environment in which MOST of the chemical reactions in
our body take place. Did you know that another definition of METABOLISM is … the sum of the chemical reactions happening
in the body. Water is therefore the milieu allowing our METABOLISM to take place. When you remember that if you have a control
of your metabolism, you have full control of your weight, you’ll understand why we can not afford going thirsty any
more.
3) Water helps in waste elimination which are by-products of our METABOLISM. For your metabolism
to be at its best, it needs to be unclogged. The waste products must be readily eliminated. Imagine you are washing the dishes
and the sink is not flowing properly. That makes your job much more difficult and the result is very likely to be sub-standard.
We need to drink enough water to facilitate the proper functioning of our kidneys in their important job of eliminating wastes.
Drinking water should have been the easiest thing one can do for his or her health. Water is NOT expensive, and readily
available. Taste? Can’t complain. It can be tasteless if you do not drink fancy waters … Eight glasses that’s
all you need or a little more if you have easy access to a restroom,
Water is not only the WATER
of your engine, it seems to be the “OIL” too?
